4th October - The Mall Meetup

At the Mall of the Emirates

The Roughcut crew met at the mall, for some window shopping but also to stitch together the threads of our brain cells. It was chaotic at first we had one sentimental topic about how sharing ones emotional state is important which leads to a better well-being and sanity. Ideas popping in and leaving the page.. then our AD, Alvin gives a pause lets not think only in one direction first. It was indeed a choice of collectively formulating a durable foundation to start building on it.

And it happened, the clash of ideas did occur but we were trying to meet at a mutual point just like we did today in terms of meeting up here. But by the end of all this mess we found our way out, with a clearer foundation and a stronger sense of direction. Kudos to our Director, Fatima.

We’ve now decided to craft a set of interview questions that provoke a lot from within not just for the documentary but to dwell into the ‘truth’ of our characters.

Myself the Producer sitting there dramatically against the sofa gathering words to have it written down in this diary. And Ambrose our cinematographer thinking on lines of our ideas getting to life, cinematically.

And of course our Sound person Huzaifa threw in a line in the air “Make it more interesting, mazaa nai aaraha (it’s not sounding fun)”. That moment we had our checkpoint: if it doesn’t spark curiosity, it’s not ready yet.
